State of Bridges Luncheon was a Success
Bridges to Housing Stability welcomed Congressman Elijah Cummings on Monday, May 15th, 2017 at the first annual State of BRIDGES Luncheon to discuss pathways to affordable housing. The event was attended by major business and individual donors and community supporters including Bethany Management, Harkins Builders, Ballard Spahr, Paul & Kathleen Casey, Howard County Council members and government officials and various congregational supporters including Glen Mar United Methodist Church, Catonsville Presbyterian, St. Andrews Episcopal Church, First Presbyterian, Bet Aviv and so many more congregations.
Congressman Cummings shared a very personal account of the first time he ever felt as though he did not have a home. Congressman Cummings gave a clear warning to attendees: “we are in tough times” and shared that the housing community will be no exception. Despite it all, he asked attendees to continue to “stand up” and do more to give a helping hand to those in need of affordable housing in their community.
