Howard County Congregations Come Together to Raise Awareness and Support to Prevent Homelessness and Increase Affordable Housing
Community faith based organizations have always been known to take the lead on issues affecting their communities and it is no different when dealing with the issue of homelessness in Howard County. In fact, Bridges to Housing Stability was founded by a community of faith based organizations in response to the emergence of homelessness in Howard County. Our initial funding came from several congregations focused on transitional housing and case management.
After over 25 years, our work at Bridges continues the legacy of the founders through our work and our association with local congregations to help promote awareness and provide resources to the families we serve. The Chili Cook-Off continues to be an opportunity for congregations to reemphasize and rededicate their pledge to help those in need by ending homelessness in partnership withBridges. This family friendly event features congregation best chili cooks and invites our local community to vote with their contributions.
We are grateful for the twelve Howard County congregations who have committed to participate in the Bridge to Housing Stability Seventh Annual Chili Cook-Off, Sunday, March 19, 2017 from 12:30PM-2:30PM at Church of the Resurrection, 3175 Paulskirk Drive, Ellicott City, MD to raise awareness and support to prevent homelessness and increase affordable housing in Howard County.
